The benefits of blogging
By Ivana Petrovic
Starting a business when you’re a teen can be beneficial. It can provide you with an income and help you be more independent. Starting a business can be difficult; especially when it comes to promotion. Fortunately, there is an easy way to promote your business — by blogging! A blog doesn’t have to be business-related; it can be used for many purposes.
I started my own blog for two reasons. I was required to post my school essays on it, and I wanted to share my ideas and crafts with others. I named my blog “Idea Girl.” I have found that blogging is a great way to express yourself, and share your work and opinions with other people.
Creating a blog is simple. I found that using the blog site Wordpress.com works best. It’s free and easy to use. When making your blog, Wordpress takes you through the process step-by-step, so it doesn’t require prep work. The two main steps include choosing a theme (your blog layout) and a name. Most blog themes are free, but some require payment.
What you decide to post on your blog is up to you. If you enjoy writing, post your stories, poems and essays. If you like crafting, post tutorials and do-it-yourself projects. If you’re a reader, post book reviews. If you like to cook and bake, post recipes. The possibilities are endless!
The audience for your blog can be anyone. If other bloggers like your content, they can follow you. If you find blogs whose content you like, you can follow them, as well.
Don’t be afraid of a little self-promotion. Post links to your blog on social media and spread the word!
The benefits of owning a blog are many. The ability to freely express your creativity is one. You can use a blog for promoting a business, networking and acquiring marketing skills. If you’re looking for a new hobby that doesn’t require too much skill, blogging might be right for you.
