  • All operate as non-profit, member-owned enterprises

Generation & Transmission Cooperatives

  • Invested more than $5 billion in North Dakota's energy industry
  • Represents nearly 90% of all coal-based generation
  • Own 4,200 miles of transmission line
  • Directly employ more than 2,100 people in North Dakota
  • There are five generation and transmission cooperatives in North Dakota
  • North Dakota’s electric cooperatives have invested more than $800 million in environmental equipment and controls.
