The effects of a nationwide labor shortage are hitting North Dakota where it really hurts. After Nov. 1, Cash-wa Distributing Company, a large Nebraska-based foodservice distributor, will no longer supply food to 102 rural school districts in North Dakota. The company cites a worker shortage, including truck drivers and warehouse workers, as the reason for the decision.
UTTC adds to campus
United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) has been operating under a synchronous virtual learning environment for the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semester. Some programs, including welding, heavy equipment and athletics, have continued face-to-face and have implemented innovative safety protocols to allow for safe operations.

Celebrating Earth Day each year has given me the impetus to be very concerned environmentally. It all began, to my best recollection, when I was in the first grade, and there was a war effort due to the start of World War II. We were bringing metal cans, which were washed and labeled. Both ends were removed from the cans, then they were flattened. My family had good times doing this, carrying them and all newspapers to the building behind our school for pickup by the dray line in our small town and transported out of state by train.
